Board patient

So I decided to use my patient with extremely tenatious calculus for my mock board patietn. I feel better at least having someone scheduled, but I'm going to have to be extremely aggressive to get it all off for boards. We'll see if I can find someone else before then, it not wish me luck!

Today was a much better day than I have been having. I cleaned one more quad of my class III patient. She is a great patient. I missed some on the mand ant because it had been there so long it was really hard. My second patient of the day was a really interesting, funny guy. He's was a class V and has been coming to WSU for a long time, so he was really patient with everything. He did call the xrays "bitey weenies". I don't think I'll forget that comment or his 7 inch beard braids! At least I got 4 more quads out of the way! Tomorrow is our first anesthesia day, I'm pretty excited!!

I can't believe this!

Well I couldn't confirm my patient for this morning and so I just decided to back myself up and schedule my class 4 patient instead. Luckily I did because the original patient did not show. She has no showed me already, so I don't think I'll be calling her again. My patient that did come was great! She's a good patient and I got a lot of experience cleaning deep pockets. It was great!
This afternoon turned out like all my other clinic days. My patient cancelled!!! Can you believe it? So I called one lady who said she would see if she could come and call me back. Well.... she didn't call back and so I called someone else who said she could come. Well...... the first lady I called ended up just coming, so she was waiting to be seen while I was waiting for the other patient. I just can't believe this happens to me! Luckily (I guess) the "other" patient never came and so I ended up cleaning the lady that was here. She was a good patient, a HARD 1B. I think she should have been a class 2 since that what she was last time. I don't understand how they can go back to a lower class!?!? Oh well, the day is done and I am going home. I am sick of cancellations and no shows. When will it end??

Crazy!!!!

So my afternoon appt decided to cancel at the last minute. Then (my luck) as I'm out calling patients to find someone to come in, a patient calls and wants to come in immediately, but Ashley was standing there and so she got the patient. That's just how it goes for me. Ashley was nice enough to share her so that we could get her done quicker. I did the OD check and we each did half of a full mouth series of xrays. So at least I got some PAX done. She was a class 4, but we are counting her as a 3. She is a very nice lady, but the worst perio I've seen yet. It was kind of exciting. I'm learning a lot from all these cancellations and no shows. I need to be a little more blunt in scheduling and confirming.
