New patient

Today I saw a patient that I Didn't know. It was a good experience. I think I might like seeing non-family, non-friend patients better. For some reason I wasn't as nervous. She was a really nice girl and I finished everything today. I had to retake 3 films though. I need to not get so nervous when I'm doing xrays. I totally know how to do them well, but I get so nervous about all the technicalities that I end up making simple mistakes. Next time I'll do bettter on films.

Finishing a patient

Today I finished my first patient. It took me 2hours to do a full mouth scale on a class 1B!!! 2hours!!! They say I should be doing it in 45 min right now. I just want to keep the patients coming so that I can get better. It's hard to get a lot of practice when you just see two patients per week. I know it'll get better, but I just feel so incompetent and slow right now. Better luck next time.

First patient of this semester

Today went really well. My brother-in-law was supposed to come in today, but he called this morning to tell me he had a cold sore. Luckily my sister Janiel came and so I started her tx series. It went better than I expected because not so many people were doing xrays today so I got in and got those done pretty quickly. I was able to get 1 quad scaled also. I need to just get practicing. I have patients scheduled through February, and I need to reschedule Janiel and Erik, so I have a lot of patients so far. I need to read up in the clinic manuel on just a few things too.

First day back

Today was our first day back after Christmas break. It seems almost like we never left. It's good to be back a going on things again though. Today we worked with our area specific gracey instruments. I felt comfortable and understand how to use them, but I just need to work on choosing the correct working end. It seems to take me a while staring at the instrument before I can tell which end I should be using. I don't want my patients thinking that I don't know what I am doing. We are starting patients again on Wednesday. Erik is coming back to finish. Hopefully I can get at least half of his mouth done if not the whole thing. I need to go over stuff so I am organized and ready to go. Wish me luck.
